Enrichment Friday

A weekly opportunity to discover, create and grow together!

At Grange Primary we believe every child deserves an inclusive and equitable enrichment offer. Enrichment extends learning beyond the National Curriculum, giving pupils experiences that broaden their horizons, build cultural capital and help them discover what they enjoy and can achieve. Every Friday, children throughout the school take part in a weekly Enrichment session. Through a wide range of activities, they can try something new, develop their talents, build relationships with children across the school and discover interests they might not otherwise have explored.

How does it work? Each half term, we offer 12 different opportunities.

Our offer draws on the five activity areas in the Department for Education’s enrichment benchmarks and adds our own Leadership and Pupil Voice strand. By the end of the school year, every child will have completed an activity in each benchmark strand.

The Six Strands

Why are we doing this?

Children learn alongside pupils from across the school, building new friendships and strengthening their sense of belonging. They practise teamwork, creativity, problem solving and confidence while finding activities that excite them. We want every child to see that their abilities and interests matter. Enrichment is planned to be accessible to all. Staff are provided with the opportunity to teach things they are passionate about and they adapt activities so children can participate and succeed, including pupils with SEND. We monitor participation and listen to children’s views to improve the offer. Over time, these shared experiences can transform what children believe is possible for themselves and the contribution they can make to others.
