Grange Primary Academy is a part of United Learning whose Trustees hold the ultimate responsibility for the governance of each United Learning school.

The Department for Education’s governance handbook 2019 identifies the essentials of effective governance as follows:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding the executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.

United Learning’s Trustees delegate certain key roles and responsibilities to the school’s Local Governing Body (LGB) and these are set out clearly in our Scheme of Delegation which can be seen on the United Learning website.

Meet The Governors

Kevin Marchand

Chair Of Governors

I have been a Governor at the Grange for 8 years.  I am responsible for liaising with our Sponsor United Learning ; recruiting new Governors and co-ordinating the Governing Body.  I take the lead for the Governors on Health and Safety issues.

I spent many years working in the rail industry in varying roles.  I then became involved in vocational qualifications – NVQ's and Apprenticeships.  Janet and I share a contented life in South West Kettering.

John Panther

I am married to Val and have three grown up children and six grandchildren. I have lived in Northamptonshire for most of my life. We now live in Barton Seagrave with our two very enthusiastic Cocker Spaniels. Prior to retirement from full time work in 2014 I held a variety of senior finance and ICT roles in large organisations, the last of which was Commercial Director for an IT and Management Consultancy based in Islington and Huntingdon. I became involved with Grange Primary Academy in 2014 and am keen to contribute to enabling both the school and its pupils to reach their full potential. I have a particular interest in the delivery of good value for money and sit on the Finance and Personnel Committee.

Charlotte Roe

Staff Governor

I have just joined the governing body and I am EYFS Lead/Reception teacher within the school. I am 31 years old and have 2 daughters who attend this school. As a child I also attended this school and still live locally.

I’ve just joined the governing body. I was brought up in Kettering and live locally. I’ve recently retired from a senior finance role at a charity group that works in the resource management and environment sectors. I have two grown up children.
