Pythagoras House

Philosopher, Mathematician (Say "pie-thag-or-as")

Pythagoras was a Greek philosopher who lived in the 500s BC and made important developments in mathematics.

He believed that everything in the world could be explained by numbers and worked hard to try to learn enough about numbers to be able to understand the universe.

Pythagoras is probably best known for his Pythagoras Theorem:

"For a right-angled triangle the square on the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares on the other two sides"
